Photography is my Dear Diary

I started out drawing and painting, but soon moved into photography due to its ability to tell stories, document life, and express my innermost thoughts without any of the clutter. I think, breathe, and live photography, and find that my photographs capture that dimension in life which words alone fail to grasp.

I am often asked what equipment I use, but many fail to realize that my eye is my lens. I am a firm believer that it is not what you have but how you use it, and I do whatever it takes to get that next shot and to evolve as a photographer.

Of Sri Lankan origin, I settled in Toronto in 1997. I attended the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005. I have been working for a leading Portrait Company since 2002 and for the past five years have worked alongside a wedding photographer, learning to build speed and skill and immersing myself in their culture.

Photography has given this introvert an outlet, and it continues to expand my horizons and my perceptions of life. I see things that many may miss, am keen to experiment, and am willing to try anything that may facilitate my progress within the field. A boundless passion for photography lives within me, and I have no doubt that I will continue to photograph until the end of my days.

I am eternally grateful for those that have, both wittingly and unwittingly, been my muses over the years.
