Hey there, we are Michael and Chathuri, but since we are gonna be friends you can call us Mike & Chats. From our beginning we have shared a passion for each other, a desire to travel and see the world around us and the love of story telling. When our cameras click, we are not just looking for a cool picture; instead we want our capture to resonate with your story over time.
We started Neluka Photography to tell your story, whether it be the moment you walk down the aisle or bring new life into this world. We are eclectic at heart and our style is a marriage between photojournalism and a use of stylized portraits to effectively capture your memories.
Our goal is decisive in nature as we seek to deliver your story through powerful images that forever encapsulates the emotions of your life. Every time you look at your images you should be transported back into that moment. Your images should be unique to you and you alone. We want your images to say who you are without a word being spoken.
From my childhood in Sri Lanka, I had a passion to tell stories through different artistic media. The experimental disposition of who I am led me to OCAD, the Ontario College of Art & Design, where in this special environment I was allowed the freedom to think, to create powerful images and uniquely tell stories as seen through my eyes. After receiving my BA of Fine Arts from OCAD with a specialization in photography I set out to on my own path conceptually carving out my art and infusing it with husband’s business acumen leading to the creation of what we do.
I live and breathe photography because of its ability to tell a story, document life, and express my innermost thoughts without any clutter. Photographs capture that dimension in life, which words alone fail to grasp. My eye is my lens and when I photograph I do whatever it takes to get that next shot. Photography expands my horizons and my perceptions of life, as I see things many may miss and I love to push the boundaries beyond what is considered the norm.
Our art is derived from each others passion for the other. We count ourselves fortunate each time we are befriended and asked to uniquely tell your story and preserve your memory. We believe that each day is a gift, that every new experience fuels our passion to discover new things, reach new heights and adventure into another unknown.

“I chose Neluka Photography to handle my surprise engagement photoshoot. I planned to surprise my girlfriend and propose to her in the summer. Both Michael and Chats were extremely friendly and professional from the very beginning when we met at a coffee shop to discuss my plans. As soon as I met them, I knew they were the ones meant to handle my shoot. They had lots of expertise and suggestions to offer that made my plan that much better.
After the plan was finalized, Neluka even travelled with me to the photo site (in Oakville which was out of their way) twice to map out my surprise and how the photoshoot would be setup to catch the surprise! There was a great deal of planning involved and they were very patient throughout it all. We also had a conference call before the big day to once again go over all the details. The day of the surprise went smooth as butter and everything went as planned.
Everyone was on time with no hiccups. Photos and videos were perfect, great quality, and all the great priceless moments were captured. They even took a few additional photos after their scheduled time was up at no cost. We got our products after in a timely manner and I could not be happier as the experience was amazing from start to finish.
