I am so excited to share with you Harshan & Thilini. If you have never seen this couple before, that means you need to hop over to our any of our platforms as this particular couple is synanymous with our brand, providing clean classic with a twist ,as she is the one holding the cigar and, of course, in black and white. I fell in love with this image and chose it to represent Neluka Photography. So now, here is there story in images as their day unfolded. We use them on business cards, banners and much more. Capturing their day produced some of my favourite images I have taken and it was a pleasure to follow them around all day. Thilini brought a modern look to the classic saree worn by Sri Lankan women and Harshan’s style in my opinion is efforlessly elegent and timeless, can I just be cheecky and say GQ worthy?
This was a marring between journalistic style, where to capture this as they unforlded, and image maker side when it came to the portrait portion in the park. They were quite easy to follow around with little direction and that allowed for the capturing of their day as it unfolded. For me it was extra special to be a part of this Sri Lankan couples day because, being myself Sri Lankan, it allowed me to find have before hand knowledge of the events to their day and it provided me another level of comfort with this gorgeous couple. Having shot many South Asian weddings, I was more than happy to take this one on as I would have knowledge of what was enlightening and closer to the heart.
All the traditional elements, such as lighting the tradition lamp to Sinhalese Baila (music) and of course my favourite part Sinhalese sweets, were all woven into the fabrick of their day. The couple was surrounded by a tight group of friends and they came together to celebrate their festivities as you will see in the imagery.
This day had a little of everything, from the couple to their supporting cast, everyone was ready to party! The music was, like the day, mixed with modern vibes to get people moving mixed with baila music. This day was filled with modern, classic beauty and traditional Sri Lankan events that made this day so beautiful to story tell. We were honoured to be asked to tell their story and be a part of their day! To see more, watch their VLOG here.
